Our Accomodation, The Moonlight Cottage. Cocking, near Midhurst, Excellent, Back of Moonlight Cottage. The South Downs. Ancient trees on this road from prehistoric times. The Isle of Wight was just visible to the human eye through the misty weather. Big Sky, windy dampish day but no rain. Further we walk. Wildlife on the way, signs of wild boars digging. Descending towards Amberley Amberley. Accomodation The Southdowns Bunkhouse, Food, The George & Dragon Day 3, Fine morning, weather super, view of Amberley Castle. Amberley Village shop and deli. Walking beside the River Arun Climbing back onto the South Downs via a sunken road. Amberley village from the downs above. with the North Downs in the distance. That on top of the world feeling. Roy, Jim, Alan and Tony ascending. 6 miles from the Arun River, 3 miles to the Adur River. Descending through woodland into Steyning. The medieval village of Steyning at the foot of the Downs St Cuthberts Church, Steyning St Cuthbert, wearing John's cap. Leaving Steyning, Alan, Stewart, Jim, Roy and Tony. Damp and cold, Look what John found! Giant Puffball, very edible Roy, Jim and Alan beside Truliegh Hill Radar Station, built WW2 and still in action. Devil's Dyke in the distance. Enjoying a well earned pint in the Devil's Dyke Pub Beauty on a cold wet afternoon.
